About the Band
Formed in 2023, the Geelong Latin Band, who perform under the name Son Geelong, brings together Australian and Latin American musicians who share a passion for Afro-Latin music. We perform at social nights, festivals, community events, and private functions—always delivering an immersive experience rooted in Cuban son, Dominican merengue, salsa, and bachata.
Committed to nurturing a thriving Latin music community, we host occasional open rehearsals that invite both emerging and experienced players to connect and create. These sessions are often preceded by percussion workshops—perfect for dancers and musicians alike to explore the rhythmic foundations that drive our sound.
