Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a partner?
No, you don't need to bring a partner. We rotate partners during class so everyone gets to practice with different people, which actually helps you become a better dancer.
Do I need prior dance experience?
This class is designed for absolute beginners having no dance experience. We start from the very basics and build up gradually over 4-weeks.
When can I start?
The class content builds and expands over a 4-week cycle. Weeks one and two are recommended starts for absolute beginners and focus on establishing a solid foundation. Weeks three and four continue but introduce some of the more complex fundamentals but still remain accessible to first timers that are quick learners. Dancers with prior experience are welcome to jump in any week.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. For footwear, choose shoes with smooth non-stick soles that allow you to pivot easily and that remain secure on your foot (dance shoes, dress shoes, or clean street shoes work well). Avoid rubber-soled running shoes. The venue is climate-controlled for comfort and we also recommend you bring a bottle of water.
What if I miss a class?
The 4-week course is designed for regular attendance, but we understand things come up. Missed classes aren’t refunded or carried over, as the course price is already discounted to reward consistent participation. If your schedule varies, pay-as-you-go is a flexible option and still lets you join any week.
What happens after Level 1?
After completing Level 1, you can continue with Salsa Level 2, which builds on the foundation you've learned and introduces more complex patterns and styling. If you’d like more practice, you can also take both Level 1 and Level 2 on the same night and enjoy a 50% discount on the second class.
What is Rueda de Casino?
Rueda de Casino is the group version of Cuban Salsa, where dancers form a circle and follow calls that have everyone switching partners and moving together. It’s energetic, social, and a lot of fun.
In our beginners class, we sometimes take the moves you’ve just learned and link them with simple transitions so you can try them in a Rueda format. It’s a playful way to experience the group dynamic without needing any prior Rueda knowledge.
